The first player to have 5 continuous roads in play takes the Longest Route tile, worth 2 VPs. If another player has more continuous roads, they immediately take the tile. Branches off your route don't add to its length, and an opponent's settlement built on your route breaks it.
With Seafarers: Your route may be made of roads and ships together, joined at your buildings.
