Virulent Strain

Shuffle the Virulent Strain Epidemic cards face down and use as many as your difficulty level, in place of the regular Epidemics. When the first one is drawn, after its Infect step, the disease with the most cubes on the board (ignoring purple) becomes the Virulent Strain; break ties randomly. Each card adds an effect that applies only to the Strain, on top of the normal Epidemic steps. Read the card aloud and follow it; continuing ones stay face up for the rest of the game.
