After it scores, the castle's meeple returns and the castle stays. In field scoring a castle is worth 4 points instead of 3 (5 with a pig). A castle still gets inn and cathedral bonuses on the feature it scores. A large meeple, wagon or mayor in the city can become the castle's occupant, but a mayor in a castle scores nothing.
