For conservation project work you either support a project already in play or play a Conservation Project card from your hand and support it at once. Each card shows 3 conditions with rewards; you can support a condition that has no player token on it, and only once per project. Place a player token from the left of your zoo map on the condition and advance your conservation and reputation counters as shown. Taking a token from your zoo map also activates the bonus it uncovers, which you gain at once and, with some, again at every break.
