Network

Discard any card to build Link tiles that extend your network — the new Link must be adjacent to a location already part of your network (this doesn't apply to your very first Link, when you have no network yet). In the Canal Era, build 1 canal Link on an undeveloped canal line for £3. In the Rail Era, canal Links can no longer be built; instead build 1 rail Link for £5, or 2 rail Links in the same action for £15 plus 1 beer, with 1 coal consumed per rail Link built.
