How The New Power Plants: Set 2 changes play
The New Power Plants: Set 2
When you use this deck with a map expansion, some maps change.
- Setup: Set 2 Variant 1 (new plants only): use only Set 2's plants and Step 3 card instead of the base plants. Shuffle the plug-back plants (03–15), draw 8 and sort them: the 4 smallest are the current market. Then prepare the stack as in the base game.
- Setup: Set 2 Variant 2 (both decks): shuffle both decks, removing only the base Step 3 card. Draw plug-back plants (03–15) one at a time: the first of each number is a fake (set it aside) and the second goes in the market, until it holds 8.
- Setup: Set 2 Variant 2 deck: then remove extra pairs for the player count (5 fakes with 2 players, 7 with 3, 3 with 4, plus their originals) and put the Step 3 card at the bottom.
- Setup: Set 2 Variant 2 later draws: each time you draw plants, set aside the first of each number and put the second in the market.
- Set 2 hybrids: the yellow and black hybrid plants use any mix of garbage and oil. They need the printed number in total and store twice that in total.
- Setup: with a map expansion, see how Set 2 changes it: France, Italy, Germany, China, Brazil, Spain and Portugal, Russia, Northern Europe, Australia, India, the Middle East, South Africa and Québec change, and their cards list the change.

- Set 2 Garbage and Oil Hybrids The yellow and black hybrid plants have two resource symbols and use any combination of garbage and/or oil. You usually buy the cheaper.
